New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) National Vice Chairman, North-west, Sani Danmasani, has maintained that the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is not the party’s leader either in Kano or in Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, Danmasani stated that Governor Yusuf’s defection did not mean that Kwankwaso, who had long been expelled from the NNPP, and members of his Kwankwasiya Movement, were back.
He described Yusuf as one of the party’s national leaders.
The NNPP chieftain expressed surprise that most media houses in Nigeria are still referring to Kwankwaso as the leader of the NNPP.
According to him, Kwankwaso has betrayed the party and is still trying to hijack it as an expelled member.
He said the party has proofs to sensitize media practitioners that Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, and others have been expelled from the party.
“Aside from the decision of the party through internal disciplinary measures to expel them, the Abia State High Court and the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, have legally confirmed their expulsion,” he said.
The party chieftain added that the Abuja Court issued an enrolment order restraining INEC from dealing or transacting any business with Kwankwaso and the Ajuji-led NWC, pending the outcome of an ongoing judicial review.
