Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, says he is confident that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will survive in the hands of factional chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Fayose, who made the statement on Tuesday, in reaction to the judgement obtained in Ibadan ahead of the party’s national convention, insisted that the PDP is now in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and it is being looked after by Mohammed.
On October 31, 2025, Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court had halted the planned national convention scheduled for Ibadan for lack of adhering to due process.
But, Justice A.L. Akintola overruled the judgement, ordering the party to go ahead with the planned national convention.
Fayose described as desperation the judgement obtained at the state High Court by the other faction of the party to secure approval for the convention.
“It appears that desperation has affected their sense. If not, they won’t go to a State High Court to obtain an order on a matter already decided by a Federal High Court,” Fayose stated.
“Unfortunately for them, the PDP has been rescued from their hands and it is now in intensive care, being looked after by the new Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman.
“I am hopeful that the party will survive under Abdulrahman, and start the most important process of healing from the injuries it suffered from the vampires, which the Ibadan elements represent.”
