Chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu,
Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened a N10 billion defamation suit against the convener of the presidential foreign investment promotion council (PFIPC),
Adeniyi Adeyemi, over allegations of murder and bribery.
In a letter signed by his counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, Adeyemi was told to take down all videos in which he made the allegations against Gbajabiamila.
Adeyemi was also asked to publish a full retraction and apology in no fewer than five national newspapers and across all social media platforms on which a press conference he conveyed on June 26 was circulated.
In the letter, Pinheiro described allegations made during the press conference as “not only false, malicious, reckless and entirely without factual foundation” but also designed to portray Gbajabimila as “corrupt, morally bankrupt, and a murderer”.
The lawyer stated that Gbajabimila and Adeyemi have never interacted or met in any way, stating that his allegations against someone whom he had never met were reckless and malicious.
“It is even more disturbing to our client that you resorted to defaming him through your press statements after a criminal charge had been filed against you,” part of the letter reads.
The lawyer fired a warning that refusal to comply with the demands within 72 hours would result in legal action without further notice.
