The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Daniel Nuhu, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of Kwali Area Council Election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which held on Saturday.
Nuhu polled a total of 17,032 votes under the APC, which has now won their third chairmanship seat in the exercise.
The APC candidate defeated his closest rival, Haruna Pai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 8,575 votes to place second.
The result was announced on Sunday by the Presiding Officer of the INEC at the final collation centre in Kwali.
Nuhu’s victory extends the APC’s lead in the FCT council elections. The party had earlier won two other chairmanship seats.
With the Kwali result, APC now controls three of the four area councils declared so far.
INEC had previously announced APC winners in AMAC and Bwari area councils, while the PDP secured victory in Gwagwalada.
