These are not good times for the family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were said to have been abducted by armed men on Wednesday while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school.
A statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, stated that the abduction happened around 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, the gunmen stopped the 43-year-old and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, before taking them away to an unknown destination.
The development has raised worries over security in the area, with family members expressing shock and anguish over the incident.
Mrs John-Paul was said to have previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring from service last year.
She had reportedly relocated to Ibadan with her children and was planning to relocate to be with her husband in the United States of America.
The family disclosed that security agencies have been alerted after the abduction and had since begun investigations geared at rescuing the victims and apprehending those responsible.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said he could not immediately confirm the incident.
