Nigerian singers are again setting the pace in Africa’s entertainment industry as five artistes have been shortlisted for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The 68th Grammy Awards will hold on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Nigerian acts competing across key categories — further cementing the country’s influence on the world music stage.

Burna Boy leads the pack with two nominations. He is nominated for Best African Music Performance with “Love” and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness, extending his run as one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.

Davido also returns to the Grammy conversation with “With You” featuring Omah Lay, earning a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category.

Ayra Starr secures another Grammy nod with “Gimme Dat” featuring Wizkid, also nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.

Wizkid, through the same collaboration, adds yet another Grammy nomination to his already decorated career.

Omah Lay completes the list with his feature on Davido’s “With You”, marking another major milestone for the singer.

In a historic moment, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti will receive a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, becoming the first African artist to be honoured in this category. The award will be presented at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 31, 2026, alongside global icons including Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Cher, and Paul Simon.
