The Court of Appeal has struck out the N5million contempt suit filed against senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The court also set aside a suit by Akpabio seeking an apology against the Kogi senator.
Akpabio had dragged his colleague to court over a post she made on social media in 2025, after she her allegation of sexual harassment by the senate president.
“Facebook apology to Akpabio: Appeal Court strikes out N5million contempt fine against Senator Natasha, sets aside the judgment to apologise to him too,” she wrote on Facebook on Monday.
However, the appellate court ruled that the senate acted within its constitutional powers when it suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan over the alleged misconducts.
In a unanimous judgment on Monday, a three-member panel of the appellate court held that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s parliamentary privilege and constitutional rights were not breached by her suspension.
