Rita, mother of Nigerian actress, Regin a Daniels, has lost the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AFN) presidential election.
Rita lost her bid for the position in an election conducted on Saturday, during AGN’s Annual General Meeting in Benin City, Edo State.
She was defeated by the AGN National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, who succeeded Emeka Rollas as the Guild’s President.
Yakubu polled 116 votes to edge out Rita who got 113, with three ballots declared void.
Yakubu’s victory makes him the first actor from the north to lead AGN since its establishment in 1990s.
This came a few weeks after Emeka Rollas who claimed that Regina Daniels needed help, advised Rita to prioritise her daughter’s well-being rather than contesting the AGN elections.
