Chairman of UBA and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, has ignited a frenzy on the Internet after saying that he became rich “by luck.”
Speaking in an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Elumelu said that it is not all times that riches and wealth are gotten through hard work, smartness or fitness but luck.
The acclaimed super banker and economist attributed his wealth to being lucky despite working tirelessly over the years in several positions in the corporate world.
The billionaire entrepreneur and investor added that that success does not come without challenges, telling aspiring entrepreneurs to stay determined no.matter how daunting the obstacles may appear.
He said that maintaining focus and a strong work routine played a major role in his achievements over the years.
“I am here because of luck. At times, you don’t get successful because you are the best in class or because you are the fittest or most energetic. Sometimes, you need luck and I am a product of luck,” said Elumelu.
This last sentence attributed to the famous Elumelu who many aspiring investors and successful bankers look up to has ignited reactions with many wondering why the banker who has worked his way up tirelessly would attribute his wealth to luck.
