The Federal Government has announced the ouster of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, requirement for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE, programms in Colleges of Education.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, disclosed this on Monday during the 2026 JAMB policy meeting in Abuja.
In the new admission guidelines, applicants will now only need a minimum of four O’Level credits in relevant subjects to qualify for entry into NCE programmes.
The Education minister said the policy change is geareed at reducing the administrative workload on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
