Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned.
The resignation is said to be with immediate effect.
According to reports, the minister, in a letter dated December 1, said his resignation is based on health grounds.
Tinubu has accepted Abubakar’s resignation.
Appointed on August 21, 2023, as minister, he spent two-term as governor of Jigawa State.
Tinubu is likely to inform senate of his intention to appoint a replacement later this week.
Abubakar’s resignation comes amid rising insecurity in the country.
Last week, the President declared emergency nationwide over insecurity.
