A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Jamo, has said he would work towards bringing former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, back into the party if given the opportunity.

Jamo, who serves as the National Ex-Officio of the APC, made the remark on Monday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

“I, as a politician and as a stalwart and a leader within the APC Today, wouldn’t want a single individual no matter how politically connected is or not, we want everybody to be in the party. We want even more, even His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso, if I have a way to bring him to the APC I will pull him out from that place (ADC),” Jamo said.

His remark comes amid shifting political alignments following Kwankwaso’s recent defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

A large crowd gathered in Kano on Monday to witness the former governor formally join the party, where he received his membership card.

The event was attended by top ADC figures, including National Chairman David Mark, former Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ex-APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, and former governors Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi.

Kwankwaso’s move to the ADC followed his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party a day earlier.

The former NNPP presidential candidate said his decision was driven by the need for a strategic political realignment in response to Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
