Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has disclosed that his father was initially against his decision to pursue music as a career.
Speaking in a recent interview with YouTuber, Korty EO, the ‘Sungba’ crooner recalled that his relationship with his father became sour over his decision to go into music.
Asake disclosed that he disobeyed his father by leaving home to chase his dream.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he said.
In March 2025, Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, made headlines after he accused the singer of neglect and abandonment.
Following the heavy backlash, Asake and his father reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his dad’s welfare.
