The federal government has fulfilled its pledge to reward the Super Eagles for their performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. Nigeria finished runners-up at the tournament, which was staged in 2024, losing 2–1 to the hosts in the final.
On their return home, President Bola Tinubu hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, where he conferred the Member of the Order of Niger (MON) on every squad member. He also promised each player a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory and a flat in recognition of their achievement.
That promise has now been honoured. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the players received certificates for the land and housing allocation at their camp in Fez, Morocco, on Monday. Alex Iwobi was among those pictured receiving his certificate.
The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, beginning their campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday. They will face Tunisia on December 27 before completing their Group C fixtures against Uganda three days later.
