Media aide to former vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has berated the Nigerian judiciary for allowing President Tinubu’s supporters’ anthem “On your mandate we shall stand” be played at the All Nigerian Judges conference in Abuja on Monday.
President Tinubu had attended the event as a special guest of honor. Shortly before he was to mount the podium to give his speech, the music band began playing the supporter’s anthem.
Ibe, who shared the video online, kicked against this move.
“Are Nigerian Judges now also standing on the Mandate of Tinubu, too? he queried.
“One would have thought that they would be standing at all times on the Mandate of Constitutionalism and Rule of Law. This is worrisome.”
At the event, Tinubu warned the judiciary to eschew corruption, saying justice “must never be for sale.”
