Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has criticised Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal of failing to fulfill his campaign promises to the people, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to mobilise support for a change of leadership in the state.
Matawalle made the remarks while addressing APC leaders and supporters during his political visit to the state at the party secretariat in Gusau, the state capital.
He accused the administration of Lawal’s adminitration of failing to fulfil its campaign promise to tackle banditry within its first 100 days in office, claiming that the security situation had deteriorated.
The minister also alleged that some members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were leaving the party for the APC due to dissatisfaction with the current administration.
He urged voters to assess the performance of the government over the past two years and decide whether it had made any meaningful impact, insisting that most ongoing projects in the state were inherited from previous administrations.
APC supporters from across the state attended the event, chanting that the PDP-led government should vacate the Government House to allow the APC to take over.
