Several soldiers have been feared killed after members of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) reportedly attacked a military base in Ngamdu, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Leadership newspaper, terrorists stormed the Ngamdu military super camp at about 2:00am and opened fire on soldiers on duty.
The publication quotes sources as saying that the military has now blocked the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, leaving hundreds of passengers and motorists stranded.
“Reports indicates that the insurgents launched a late night attack on the military super camp in Ngamdu, inflicting casualties on personnel. Early this morning, military ambulance conveyed some injured soldiers to the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu,” the source said.
