Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the summon by the state police command as “dangerous descent into lawlessness”.
The state police command had allegedly prevented a scheduled meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), from holding in the state.
The command subsequently summoned El-Rufai and seven members of the party for questioning.
It accused the former governor and ADC members of alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.
The summon said the ADC Chairman in the state should produce El-Rufai and others at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), on September 8.
Reacting to the development, El-Rufai accused the police command of violating the constitution.
“The commissioner knows what he is doing violates the Constitution,” he told a press conference.
“He waved a piece of paper claiming it was a court order, but it was never served.
“Even if such an order exists, it must be legally delivered before it can take effect. That has not happened.
“This is a dangerous descent into lawlessness. We want to see that injunction, we want to know the grounds, and we will contest them in court. This is not the end— further steps will follow.”
