Sister of BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna, Ruth Otabor, has died after being involved in an accident with a truck owned by Dangote

JESNews reports that the reality star, born Josephina Otabor, on August 13, said that the incident happened near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state.

Phyna stated that the accident left Ruth with one leg amputated and the other at risk, alongside head and hand injuries.

In their reaction in a statement, Dangote Group said that senior officials and their insurance team immediately visited the accident scene.

The conglomerate said they coordinated with law enforcement authorities and met with the victim’s family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

But on Sunday, the reality star announced Ruth’s death through a legal document that was posted on her Instagram account.

“We remain Solicitors to R uth Otabor, Josephine Otabor (whose moniker is: Phyna) and the Otabor Family and have their instruction to inform the public of this,” the document reads.

“With a heavy heart the Family of regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their Daughter, Sister, Mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs.”

The family also asked the public and media to allow them the necessary space to process their grief privately.

The statement added that “the funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course”.
