Lamine Yamal did not train with his teammates ahead of the La.Liga match against Valencia, and Hansi Flick confirmed that he will not be available for the game.
The winger is also doubtful for Barça’s Champions League opener against Newcastle next Thursday. Yamal is dealing with pubic discomfort and did not take part in the final training session before the visit from Valencia, instead working in the gym on a specific recovery program to address his physical issues.
It is worth remembering that Yamal had already experienced back discomfort during the international break with Spain, yet still played in both matches against Bulgaria and Turkey. Flick was highly critical of the heavy minutes Yamal logged during those fixtures, games in which Spain had a comfortable advantage.
Other absentees from training were Gavi, who continues conservative treatment on his right knee to resolve ongoing discomfort, and Alejandro Balde, who is recovering from a hamstring injury in his left leg.
