Muhammed Abdulkarim, one of the survivors of the horrific onslaught by jihadists on Woro Community in Kwara State, has revealed that they buried 178 corpses in two days, as against the casualty figure released by the government.
The state government had claimed that only 78 people were killed when Islamists invaded the community on Wednesday.
According to the Kwara State Government, the terrorists tied the hands of most of their victims before shooting them in the head for rejecting a radical type of Islam.
Speaking to News Central, Abdulkarim explained that the terrorists who came in large number, stormed the community on motorcycles.
He said the community has buried 178 people and still searching for more bodies.
“When I saw motorbikes en masse coming, three people on army uniform, all of them with rifle AK-47. I said ‘are these soldiers’? Not until when I saw one with wrapper on his head around his neck. I had to run and hide myself,” he said.
“In fact, they started chasing people, catching people, tied them on the back like this, putting them in type of layers. Before 30 minutes, we just heard gun shots. They are shooting them on their heads.
“One of my sons is abducted and my friend has been killed. In my family, about 12 were killed. So all in all what we’ve buried now yesterday till today, we’ve buried about 178 now and we are still searching for more.”
