Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, says President Bola Tinubu used money to buy his way into winning the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu emerged winner of the 2023 presidential race, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Lamido, a chieftain of the opposition PDP, spoke at a meeting of the expanded party caucus in Dutse, the state capital.
He said the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Afenifere anf the Ohanaeze Ndigbo did not support Tinubu in the election because of who he is.
He said the north and Nigerians have been suffering from the bad APC leadership, including poverty, insecurity, and hardship, adding that no sensible northerner will vote for Tinubu in 2027.
According to him, “We have been telling people Tinubu does not like the North, he doesn’t like anything that will help in developing the North. During his tenure as Governor of Lagos, Northerners were maltreated, attacked, and killed.”
“In 2023, both the ACF, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, and other meaningful associations didn’t support Tinubu. He used money to influence his support and win the election.”
“We warned people not to entrust him. They refused to listen and are now paying the consequences of their actions. It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the position he is holding, minister, governor, House of Representatives, among others.”
“I don’t think a right-thinking person from the North will support Tinubu’s reelection bid again in the coming 2027 election,” he said.
He said Nigeria will be rescued from his hands only if all citizens agree to unite themselves irrespective of political, religious, and regional differences.
