Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has claimed that candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, won the exercise in the state.
The former minister of transportation under the late president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, made the claim during an X Space discussion on Saturday.
He, however, said it was not clear how the results of the election were doctored.
“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State,” he stated.
“But I don’t know how the results were changed.”
Violence and intimidation were recorded during the last general elections in Rivers, with voting not holding in some parts of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner, despite the huge uproar that trailed the exercise.
INEC declared that the APC garnered 231,591 votes in Rivers State, while LP polled 175,071 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) finished third with 88,468 votes.
