Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, a popular chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe State Governor, Mamman Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, Adamu announced his defection at a ceremony in Damaturu, saying he was attracted into APC by Governor Buni’s commitment to developing the state.
The defector assured to bring his contribution to support Gov. Buni’s success story in the state.
The former PDP strongman said all his supporters in Zone B senatorial zone of the state have shifted their loyalty to the APC.
“I want you to mark my words, PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe state is dead”, he said.
The Yobe state Chairman of APC, Alh. Mohammed Gadaka described the defection of Adamu as a big catch for the APC.
“We value this defection, we will support you and give you a sense of belonging with the opportunities enjoyed by all members of the party” he said.
Gov. Buni welcomed Adamu and his supporters, saying their membership was equivalent to that of every member of the party.
Buni said Adamu’s defection would improve the fortunes of APC in Potiskum, Zone B and the state in general.
