Spokesperson of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Enemi George, has he doubts if any political solution will be enough to rescue the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from impeachment.
George said this on Thursday when he featured on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’.
He also said that it diminishes the institution of the Rivers State House of Assembly Assembly if anyone would say that everything they do is because of politics.
According to him, the governor has been committing the same crime over and over again, accusing him of spending public funds as though they were his personal money.
“I doubt if there is a political solution to stop the impeachment move against Fubara because we have had too many political solutions. What’s the need for political solution when he would say and do the same thing again?
“Even if you want to play politics, you do that according to the law, within the confines of the law. If you allow yourself to breach the constitution you can’t blame anybody the consequence of your action. But right now, what we are talking about is the law.
“And I’m sure wherever president Bola Tinubu is, he will feel very insulted by all these because he’s a human being like you and I.
“The president went through hell to assemble stakeholders to broker this peace and the governor stumbled over it again and reneged it. You can’t keep breaking the law and expect the president to come to your rescue,” the lawmaker said.
