Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed the need to sensitize the Fulani community to adopt cattle ranching to bolster livestock management and reduce level of insecurity arising from farmer-herder clashes in the nation.
The governor disclosed this during a courtesy visit by representatives of different Fulani groups, led by the Madako Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Empowerment in Minna.
Bago emphasized that ranching is the most effective and modern method for livestock management, which can generate more income for the Fulani people through value chain production.
He also encouraged the Fulani community to prioritize enrolling their children in school, praising the Madako Foundation’s initiative to support education among Fulani children.
The governor called on learned Fulani individuals to assist in improving nomadic schools in Niger State.
