Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has been left out of the squad to face Inter Milan.
Salah was highly critical of manager Arne Slot and the club, who says threw him under a bus this season as the club continues to fail this season. The winger was left on the bench for Liverpool’s last 3 games and will now miss out on the trip to Milan after being left out of the squad.
The 33-year-old trained with his teammates earlier on Monday and was pictured smiling as he warmed up. His form has dropped off this season, scoring five goals in his 18 appearances, and many believe he could leave when the January transfer window opens.
The Egyptian signed a lucrative two-year contract in April and spoke on the situation, which he says is really hurting him.
‘After what I have done for the club it really hurts,’ he said. ‘You can imagine, really. After going from home to the club and you don’t know if you are starting.
‘I know the club too well, I have been here many years. Tomorrow Carragher is going to go for me again and again and that’s fine.’
Salah is due to report for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Egypt next Monday and so could be away from Liverpool until mid-January. As Slot continues to omit him from the side, Salah is likely to push his way out the side.
