Singer Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign over the recent spate of insecurity in the country.
Nigeria’s insecurity has attracted global attention after US President, Donald Trump, revealed that he had re-designated the country as a Country of Particular Concern over what he described as “Christian genocide” in the northern part of the country.
Last Sunday, bandits invaded Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, taking captive 25 students. The terrorists also killed the school’s vice principal and injured a security guard.
This came after members of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) killed Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State.
On Tuesday night, bandits invaded a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, killing three worshippers and kidnapping several members, including the pastor.
Cases of kidnapping are also rampant, with Nigerian travellers posting videos of traffic on highways from incidences of commuters being taken into the bush by non-state actors.
In a post on his Facebook, the “Soft work” crooner lamented the state of insecurity in the country.
“Fresh kidnap attacks on a school in Kebbi state and multiple lives lost in a church in Kwara state,” he wrote.
“It’s ridiculous at this point. This is a war zone. We have an incompetent president and he must resign.”
