Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has debunked reports claiming he has left the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he would consult with relevant individuals before taking any decision.
Some reports had claimed that Dickson was planning to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
On Friday, through his media assistant, Ajiri Daniels, the former Bayelsa State governor clearly said he is still fully loyal to the PDP and has not joined any other political party.
The senator said he is currently grieving after the death of the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
He said that, as a sign of respect, he has stopped participating in political activities during this time of mourning and has been spending time welcoming visits from friends, political leaders, allies, and people who care about him across the country.
According to him, these visitors included political leaders from different parties and people from all areas of life.
Dickson said he is closely watching what’s happening in politics, but he made it clear that after the burial, he will talk to his friends and political partners from all over the country to get their input before making a decision.
He will then officially share what he decides. But during this time, he said he will continues to be an important leader in the PDP, hoping that the party will work properly and make good decisions, considering its long history and past contributions to Nigerian politics.
He asked the public, loyal party members, and supporters to ignore the report, calling it fake news meant to trick people, and told them to trust only the information coming from his official communication sources.
