The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, granted administrative bail to Mele Kyari, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company limited (NNPCL).
Kyari handed himself over to the EFCC, following alleged $7.2 billion fraud while in charge of the NNPCL.
The $7.2 billion missing funds was reportedly meant for maintenance of three refineries in the country.
Kyari was grilled by EFCC officials on Wednesday, as investigation into the alleged misappropriation of fund continues deepens, with the refineries non-functional despite billions of dollars spent on turnaround efforts.
Prior to Wednesday, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had ordered the temporary freezing of four bank accounts allegedly linked to the former NNPCL boss.
Justice Emeka Nwite gave the order, following an ex parte motion filed by the anti-corruption agency.
