Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been reported to have stormed the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and arrested some youths thought to be internet fraudsters.
It was learnt that operatives of the EFCC carried out the raid on Sunday morning at the hotel section of the OOPL, which belongs to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Obasanjo’s pent-house residence is located within the sprawling Library modelled after the first American Presidential Library established by 32nd American President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
A viral video showed how some youths scampered for safety during the raid.
The operatives reportedly arrested a number of youths and seized “more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items.”
An official of EFCC told Daily Trust that the operation was carried out by the EFCC operatives from the Lagos Directorate.
The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident.
“We received the same information and we are looking into what really happened. So, we are trying to find out from them (EFCC) what really happened.
“I don’t have additional information. As soon as we have it I will let you know,” he told our correspondent.
When probed if they were EFCC operatives, he responded: “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.”
