President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law.
On Tuesday, the Senate had approved electronic transmission of election results, with manual collation retained as a backup.
The development had sparked controversy, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the lawmakers’ action.
The House of Representatives had also passed the bill, with many opposition lawmakers waking out of plenary chanting as though the All Progressives Congress (APC) had manipulated the process.
