Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have demanded N423 million ransom for the release of Hassan Miringa, a former vice-chairman of Biu Local Government Area in Borno, and another abductee.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication based in the Lake Chad region, the video, which surfaced on Tuesday shows two men, said to have been kidnapped by the insurgents, appealing for help.
The victims said they were abducted on December 17, 2025, while travelling from Miringa to Maiduguri.
In the video, the abductees said their captors are demanding a ransom of $150,000 each, amounting to $300,000, for their release.
“We were abducted on our way from Miringa to Maiduguri around 2:30 pm. Alhamdulillah, we are alive,” one of the victims said.
The abductees appealed to the government and prominent individuals to intervene and help secure their freedom.
They specifically called on Umar Kadafur, deputy governor of Borno; Mukhtar Aliyu; member representing Biu/ Bayo/ Shani in the house of representative; Sule Rimi; Yakubu Kimba, members of Borno house of assembly; and Musa Biu, APC secretary in Biu, to assist in efforts to secure their release.
“We are pleading with them to come to our rescue. We are their sons,” the victim said.
“They said we must provide $150,000 each. For the two of us, it is $300,000. We want to be reunited with our families.”
