Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen showed that his temperament still gets the best of him, following his on-field incident with teammate Ademola Lookman in Nigeria’s 4-0 thrashing of Mozambique in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday.
Osimhen bagged a brace in the game and despite Lookman being involved in his first goal and directly assisting the second, the Galatasaray attacker had a confrontation with his successor as the best player on the continent.
He accused the Atalanta man of being selfish and refused to yield to his teammates and a few Mozambique players who approached to pacify him.
He was subbed off shortly after the encounter as his mood refused to change. At the final whistle, he walked straight down the tunnel while his teammates and the opponents exchanged handshakes on the pitch.
In the mixed zone, he refused to respond to journalists waiting to take his reaction to the game.
However, Lookman, who picked up the man of the man award, downplayed the incident as just mere “conversation.”
