Candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses are no longer required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
This development was announced on Monday, by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). in a post on its X handle, during its ongoing policy meeting on 2026 admissions.
According to the board, “Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programmes and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME’’.
The development is coming on the heels of the Nigerian government announcing the scrapping of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exanation, UTME, as a requirement for admission into Colleges of Education.
The federal government stated that candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE, programmes, are no longer required to sit for UTME.
