Asue Ighodalo, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last year’s governorship election in Edo State, has debunked claims that he has left the party.
In a statement released on Monday, the Team Asue Media Organization (TAMO) denied a viral video suggesting Ighodalo’s defection from the PDP.
TAMO urged party’s supporters and the general public to ignore the circulating footage, which it said was deliberately designed to create confusion and weaken the party’s momentum ahead of the polls.
“Dr. Ighodalo remains a member of the PDP. We urge the public to disregard this baseless fabrication and the mischief behind it,” the statement read.
The media team emphasized that Ighodalo is unwavering in his commitment to the PDP’s ideals and his vision for a “prosperous and safe Edo.”
It added that the former gubernatorial candidate is focused on strengthening the party as a platform that prioritizes the needs of the people.
The denial comes at a time, as political parties intensify preparations for the by-elections later this month.
