A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashir Bakari, has resigned from the party in Taraba State, citing persistent lack of recognition and inclusiveness.
Bakari, who is from Majidadi Ward in Jalingo Local Government Council, made his decision known in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman at the weekend. He said the resignation takes immediate effect.
In the letter, Bakari explained that his decision followed years of loyalty and contributions to the party that, according to him, were not adequately acknowledged.
He recalled that he contested as an aspirant for the Jalingo II Constituency in the 2023 elections and also served as a member of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council (TPCC) during the same election cycle.
Despite these roles, Bakari said he experienced what he described as unfair treatment and a lack of internal party democracy, which ultimately informed his decision to leave the APC.
He added that the move was taken after careful consideration and consultations with his supporters and stakeholders, noting that he intends to explore other platforms where his political aspirations and capacity can be better utilised.
