Accord Party is marketing its credentials to Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in the state.

On Monday, Adeleke resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his decision to the crisis within the party’s national leadership.

Adeleke did not disclose the political party he intends to join following his exit from the major opposition party.

Accord Party said it is ready to welcome the governor, should he decide to pursue his second term on its platform.

Speaking to NAN on Wednesday, Dele Oladeji, Chairman of the party in Lagos State, said Accord is a dependable and organised structure for any aspirant seeking a stable platform.

Oladeji asked Adeleke to consider Accord, saying the party had neither internal conflict nor external interference.

“We are waiting for his declaration. That is what we can say for now. We are waiting for when he will declare for Accord,” he said.

“In Accord, we are ready for him. Whenever he decides to step in, we are set to receive him.

“Accord is a very stable and sanitised political platform. We have no factions and no godfathers.

“Any candidate who joins us between now and 2027 is sure of a peaceful and dependable structure.

“If he decides to step in, we will be ready to work with him and ensure his success.”

He also described Accord as the “most suitable” platform for any serious political contender at the moment.

On Wednesday, Kolapo Alimi, Osun commissioner for information and public enlightenment, said the Adeleke will unveil his new political party before December 13.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed August 8, 2026 for the Osun governorship election.
