Two more governors to leave ‘decaying PDP’ for APC, reveals Fayose

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has revealed that Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, alongside another from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are on the verge joing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayose spoke on Tuesday in an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.

The former governor said the opposition party is “decaying from the head”, and added that the crisis rocking the party can only be resolved by addressing its leadership challenges.

“When fish decays from the body, you can salvage it, but when it decays from the head, you cannot salvage it,” he said.

“Currently, the PDP has decayed from the head.”

He said he has been open about the party’s internal issues and has repeatedly warned that the PDP is in trouble.

“I have not come here for one day to deceive Nigerians about PDP, and I’ve not hidden the fact that I will never leave PDP,” he said.

“I have also not hidden the fact that I am a great supporter of the president as a Yoruba man. I stand to be corrected, and I have said severally that PDP is in trouble.”

Fayose said he had previously predicted that three PDP governors would defect, adding that his warning had already played out.

“After my visit here three weeks ago, Governor Diri left,” he said.

“He was actually the chairman of the (PDP) campaign screening committee, but he left. Governor of Enugu left. And the third one is governor of Taraba, who was handed over by the president to the national chairman of the APC.”

He said another governor is preparing to leave the party, adding that more defections will follow.

“Another one will leave very soon. Governor of Plateau will leave,” he said.

“But I’m telling you again, after the governor of Plateau, another governor will leave. When I come back here, I will remind you again.”

Ahead of its national convention scheduled to be held on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo state, the PDP has split into two factions.
