Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has moved to the top of the CAF Champions League top scorer race, following his hat-trick against Ajax Amsterdam on matchday 4 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the 3-0 victory.
The Nigeria international scored a second half hat-trick to help Galatasaray to their third straight win in the competition this season.
He showed his predatory instincts with his first goal in the 59th minute, before increasing his tally six minutes after the hour mark from the spot. His hattrick was completed in the 78th minute from the spot as well.
It was his sixth goal in the competition this season in the tournament after his goal against Liverpool, a brace against Molde before his hattrick today against the Dutch giants at their home ground in Amsterdam.
With six goals scored in three games so far this season, he has overtaken Manchester City star Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich goal poacher Harry Kane who both have five, as well as Real Madrid’s French forward Kylian Mbappe who has scored four times in the competition.
Osimhen is also the first Galatasaray player to score braces in two matches after his two goals against Bodo/Glimt on matchday 3 and then against the Dutch side. The former Napoli star was undoubtedly named man-of-the-match after another remarkable performance by the former African footballer of the year.
