Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, has urged Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, to resolve their conflict for the good of all parties comprising Nigerians, the economy, workers and employers.
Dingyadi, who chaired the session, made this disclosure in his remarks at the meeting between Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN and other relevant stakeholders in the country’s oil and gas sector.
“We want to resolve these issues amicably, for the good of everybody, for the good of our economy, for the good of the security of our nation, and for the good of our workers, and for the good of our employers as well,” he said.
The meeting, originally scheduled for 2:30 pm on Monday, did not start until around 4 pm.
The meeting is coming after PENGASSAN, at the weekend, directed its members to cut off gas and crude supply to Dangote Refinery until the 650,000-barrel-per-day plant recalls workers allegedly dismissed for voluntarily belonging to the union.
But, Dangote Refinery described the union’s action as bully and terror tactics.
