History has been made as premium motor spirit, popularly known as petrol, from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery,, has landed in New York, United States, for the first time.
According to Reuters, Sunoco and Vitol organised the shipment on Monday.
The delivery on the tanker, Gemini Pearl, signals a massive milestone for the 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote refinery.
Reuters reported that a further shipment of Dangote petrol, which Glencore sold to Shell, is planned to land in New York on September 19.
The deliveries represent an important achievement for the $20 billion Ibeju Lekki-based refinery.
Speaking at an event , President of Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, said the refinery exported 1.1 billion litres of petrol in three months.
“We have been battling fuel queues since 1975, but today Nigerians are witnessing a new era.”
