Edward Onoja, former Kogi State deputy governor, has urged his ex-principal, Yahaya Bello, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Udughan to reconcile.
Bello was accused of frustrating efforts of Akpoti-Udughan to represent Kogi Central until in 2023 when he left office before she won the senatorial election.
The two have since not been the best of friends, with the federal lawmakerf accusing the former governor of plotting to kill her earlier this year when gunmen invaded her home in Kogi.
Onoja, however, noted that “peace is better than war,” recalling how the two politicians once dinned together.
He disclosed this during an interview on Mic On podcast on Saturday.
The former deputy governor also dismissed claims that Bello was behind Natasha’s suspension from the Senate and her current ordeal.
Asked about speculations that Bello was behind Natasha’s claim, he said: “Was said, I didn’t say that, I didn’t know that, and I don’t want to believe that.”
On them being at loggerheads, Onoja said: “I will advise them to reconcile, that is what brothers and sisters do.
“Once upon a time Natasha was in our party, APC, invited in by Yahaya Bello and they dinned together, they have been friends.
“She was in our party and she attended one occasion in Glass House – Kogi State Government House and his Excellency made me stand up from my seat to go and greet her and I did, once you are directed by your principal you just do it. I just believe that peace is better than war.”
