Nigerians on social media have continued to drag Nollywood stars, Kunle Afolayan, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Ayo Adesanya and Remi Surutu, among others, for launching a new Support Group for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

This comes amid the growing economic hardship across the country.

The group ‘Eko 57 Movement’, which was launched in Lagos on Sunday, is coordinated by actor Lege Miami.

Reacting to a video of the event, which is trending online, many Nigerians criticised the celebrities for not being honest with the situation of things across Nigeria.

Netizens warned that no celebrities should come out again to solicit financial assistance when things go bad for them.

While noting that mandatory real-time transmission of results is the only movement Nigeria is in need of, netizens listed poor health system, insecurity, poor electricity supply, corruption and high cost of living among other hardships faced by Nigerians under President Tinubu’s led government.

Reacting to the controversial group, an X user @fhemiwrld wrote: “It’s just embarrassing. No light. Fuel price increased. U don’t talk about it. Shame on Y’all.”

lordmayorblacksnr said: “Make una sha no disturb us if any of una get problem and need the public sympathy. Make that Tinubu mandate come tru for una.”

titbeats added: “The only movement we need is mandatory realtime transmission of electoral results and nothing else.”

xozo10000 said: “Lege What are you doing? Forgetting the masses because of your own selfish interest when you truthfully know that masses are suffering?”

umaromolara srressed: “If dem born ur mama well may all of u cry come social media I’ve marked ur face eyin mad gbogbo.”

horlayinka_gold added: “Nothing wey concern una with good governance, the killings wey Dey happen and poor economy no concern una, person wey Dey listen to am go think say na pure heart and wellbeing of Nigerians he Dey fight for.”

thorlulorpe wrote; “it’s your choice to support whoever, but please, when Nigeria happens to you, you should not just try to make a video to post o because that’s when we will have a serious problem. fingers crossed.”
