The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has discredit the Presidency’s claim that former president Goodluck Jonathan ran Nigeria aground.
In a statement issued in Gusau, the state chairman of the party, Jamilu Jibo Magayaki, said the Presidency’s criticism of Jonathan was a sign of apprehension over the growing strength of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Magayaki noted that Nigerians still remember Jonathan’s years in office for peace, democracy, and relative economic stability.
“If Jonathan’s record was truly disastrous, why does the mere suggestion of his return in 2027 unsettle the APC?” he asked.
He argued that Nigerians are currently facing hardship, insecurity, hunger, inflation, and economic decline under the present administration.
Magayaki added that the ruling party’s constant reference to Jonathan shows its inability to defend its record after more than two years in power.
He expressed confidence that Nigerians would return the PDP to power in 2027.
