Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has debunked claims that he has jettisoned the ambition to run for the office of the president in 2027 for former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi.
Atiku called the report false and misleading.
Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 election, was said in some reports to have stepped aside for Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the election.
The story also claimed that Atiku supported a one-term presidency for Obi in the interest of regional balance.
However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, dismissed the report outright, describing it as fake news.
Reacting on Saturday, Ibe posted a screenshot of the claim on his verified X account and wrote: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
This comes as reports indicate that Peter Obi now plans to formally join the ADC.
