The Elders’ Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has urged governorship aspirants to stop the purchase of nomination forms for the 2026 election.
In a statement signed on Friday by its chairman, Sola Akinwumi, the caucus said it had received the report of its Ad hoc Committee on the forthcoming governorship poll.
According to the statement, the body has constituted a Screening Committee tasked with evaluating all aspirants within a specified period.
It added that aspirants should wait for the committee to complete its assignment.
“All the aspirants were urged to exercise patience in obtaining the prescribed forms by the party until the Screening Committee submits its report to this body,” the caucus said.
The statement further advised party stakeholders “to remain committed to the APC as preparations intensify ahead of the election.”
The APC has fixed its governorship primary for December 13, 2025, ahead of the August 8, 2026 state poll.
At least 13 aspirants are seeking APC party’s ticket, including Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Iyiola Omisore, former Deputy Governor of the state, and Senator Babajide Omoworare, former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Business.
Other contenders are Dotun Babayemi, former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, Dr Peter Babalola, Akin Ogunbiyi, and legal practitioner Kunle Adegoke.
